Elemental Pathways for Healing & Transformation

At Haven, healing is not approached as a problem to solve but as a process to tend.

Rooted in holistic, trauma-informed care, our 53-minute counseling sessions support the integration of body, mind, heart, and soul. Each offering is guided by the wisdom of the four elements,  Earth, Air, Water, and Fire. We view them as ancient pathways that mirror the natural rhythms within you.

Whether you are meeting with us in Charlotte, North Carolina, nestled among the trees of Floyd, Virginia, or online across state lines, your work here is grounded, intentional, and relational.

Sessions are $155. Please note, I am an out-of-network provider. Services are HSA eligible, and I am able to provide a superbill to file for out-of-network benefits.

The Four Elements as a Map for Self-Development

Every person carries within them a landscape. Some areas feel stable. Others feel storm-touched or dormant. The elemental model offers a way to understand and care for each terrain of the Self.

  • Earth – Body, stability, embodiment

  • Air – Thought, insight, cognitive clarity

  • Water – Emotion, intuition, relational depth

  • Fire – Soul, meaning, transformation

Each pathway offers a distinct alchemy — yet they are never separate. Healing happens when the elements come back into conversation.

Earth

The body asks, what do you sense?

Body Therapy • Nervous System Therapy • Embodiment

Earth is the ground beneath your feet. It is structured and safe. It is the slow remembering that your body is not the enemy — it is the messenger.

As trauma-informed therapists, we understand that trauma is not only a story held in memory; it is an imprint held in the nervous system. Through body- and nervous system-based therapy, we gently support the regulation of stress responses and the restoration of embodied safety.

In Earth-centered sessions, you may experience:

  • Guided embodiment practices

  • Breath and grounding techniques

  • Trauma-informed nervous system support

  • Gentle movement and somatic tracking

  • Rituals of presence

This work is especially supportive if you feel dissociated, chronically anxious, ungrounded, or disconnected from your physical self. Embodiment therapy invites you to return to sensation slowly. This helps with building tolerance, compassion, and trust in your body’s signals.

Healing begins from the ground up.

Air
The mind asks, what do you think?

Narrative Exploration • Insight • Cognitive Integration

Air governs the realm of thought, and shapes the internal narratives that influence how you experience your life.

Talk therapy at Haven is not surface-level conversation but a path toward structured insight. We weave together narrative exploration, reflection, and trauma-informed psychoeducation to help you understand how your thought patterns impact your emotional and physical well-being.

In Air-focused sessions, you may receive:

  • Psychoeducation on trauma and the nervous system

  • Narrative therapy interventions

  • Behavioral interventions that support meaningful change

  • Structured self-reflection exercises

  • Coping tools for anxiety and overwhelm

  • We explore how old stories formed, and whether they still serve you.

Air work may support you if you experience racing thoughts, anxiety, indecision, or persistent self-criticism. Together, we gently examine your cognitive landscape and create space for new, empowered narratives to take root.

Insight becomes breathable.

WATER

The heart asks, what do you feel?

Emotional Health • Inner Child • Grief Integration

Water moves in tides. So do emotions.

When emotions are suppressed or overwhelming, they often show up in the body as emotional numbness, shutdown, or dysregulation. Many clients arrive unsure why they feel disconnected from or overwhelmed by their feelings.

Water-centered therapy supports you in safely tending to your emotional world. We often integrate inner child work to gently reconnect with younger parts of you that may still be carrying unmet needs, grief, or relational wounds.

In Water sessions, we may explore:

  • Grief and loss

  • Emotional processing through somatic awareness

  • Creative and imaginal exploration and expression (music, imagery, poetry)

  • Nervous system support for emotional regulation

  • Attachment repair and relational healing

This work is especially supportive if you are navigating grief, relationship transitions, trauma healing, or emotional numbness. Together, we learn the language of your feelings. You’ll learn not to drown in them, but how to ride their currents.

Water teaches us that feeling is not weakness. It is wisdom in wavelike motion.

FIRE
The Soul asks, what do you dream?

Integral Psychology • Archetypal Integration • Meaning-Making

Fire is the element of transformation. It is the place where pain becomes initiation and shadow becomes teacher.

Our Fire pathway is rooted in integral psychology– a depth-oriented approach that honors multiple layers of human development: psychological, emotional, relational, and spiritual. Through archetypal integration and symbolic exploration, we work with the unconscious material that longs to be seen.

This may include:

  • Dream exploration and Active Imagination

  • Archetypal and shadow work

  • Mythic frameworks such as the Hero(ine)’s Journey

  • Ritual as sacred container

  • Creative expression as transformation

  • Guided Imagery

Fire work may support you if you feel stuck, creatively blocked, in existential transition, or longing for deeper meaning. It is especially powerful during life shifts that feel like endings or beginnings.

This is where broken pieces become mosaic.

What to Expect in a Session

Every 53-minute session at Haven is collaborative and tailored to you.

You can expect:

  • A steady, attuned therapeutic relationship

  • A trauma-informed pace

  • Integration of body, mind, emotion, and meaning

  • Clear intention-setting and reflection

  • Practical tools alongside depth exploration

Some sessions are grounding; some emotional, some insight-driven, and some are symbolic and imaginal. Most are all of the above. All are rooted in safety.

Whether you are visiting us in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Floyd, VA, or in the exciting bustle of Charlotte, NC, our work is shaped by presence, not pressure.

A Trauma-Informed, Integrative Approach

Haven is built on the understanding that healing requires attunement. As trauma informed therapists, our role is not to push or diagnose your experience into categories, but to co-create a safe container where your system can reorganize organically.

By weaving together:

  • Body therapy

  • Nervous system therapy

  • Inner child work

  • Narrative and cognitive integration

  • Integral psychology

We offer therapy that is both structured and soulful.

Beginning Your Work

You do not need to know which element you “belong” to. Most clients move fluidly between Earth, Air, Water, and Fire as their healing unfolds.

If you are seeking therapy in Charlotte, Floyd, or online, we invite you to begin where you are. The sanctuary is not elsewhere. It is within you.

We are here to help you remember how to find the door.
